History of Goas
The name derives from the Occitan term «bofar» (to blow).
Between the 12th and the 14th centuries its parish and its priory were attached to Mas-Grenier Abbey; in the 13th century both were given to the Bishop of Montauban. This Lordship had been for a long time the propriety of the Counts of Goas. The King Louis XIII was the godfather of one of its members, Louis de Biron.
The church of Saint Sixte dominates the road leading to Toulouse. It is recorded in a document of 1317; it had been rebuilt in the 17th century.
