History of Saint Jean du Bouzet
The name derives from the patron saint of the parish and from the Bouzet family.
The foundations of a Gallo-Roman villa were found at the end of 19th century. The Land Charter was signed in 1300. The lordship used belonged to the Bouzet family until the 15th century; in 1420 these lands passed into the hands of the Gout family by marriage. In the 18th century Jean-Baptiste d’Olivier, Toulousian Parliamentary Councillor, was styled «Baron of Bouzet and Puygaillard».
The parish church was linked to Castéra-Bouzet church at the end of the 18th century until 1835. The church dates from the 12th, 14th and 19th centuries.
